Executive Director - search extended
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Executive Director is charged with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Merrimack River Watershed Council including cultivating key partnerships and donor relationships, acting as the champion and voice of the Merrimack River, ensuring that all products and projects are produced and carried out in an effective, professional and timely manner, overseeing staff and volunteers, and developing and managing the budget. The Executive Director is responsible for developing and implementing short and long-term strategic plans to help grow and strengthen the organization’s ability to have a positive impact. Internships
Education Programs Assistant
The MRWC has developed watershed curriculum to be taught in the class and in after-school programs. This position will include teaching after-school watershed and environmental career curriculum in Lowell, Lawrence and Haverhill high schools. Preference will be given to current juniors and seniors who are environmental science majors, education majors, and civil and environmental engineering majors (with a focus in environmental or water resources engineering). Position requires a minimum of ten hours a week and possibly a vehicle.
Water Resources Engineering Assistant
The MRWC has several water quality monitoring projects within the Merrimack River Watershed. This position will entail water quality testing, water quality laboratory measurements, and revisions of a quality assurance project plan (QAPP). Preference will be given to current juniors and seniors who are environmental science majors and civil and environmental engineering majors (with a focus in environmental or water resources engineering). Position requires a minimum of ten hours a week and possibly a vehicle.
GIS Specialist
The MRWC has one position available for an intern trained in GIS. This position will entail creating maps, plotting maps, aligning projections, downloading files from MassGIS, and downloading information from a GPS unit onto maps. Student must have GIS experience and preferably has taken at least one GIS class. Preference will be given to current juniors and seniors who are environmental science majors and civil and environmental engineering majors (with a focus in environmental or water resources engineering). Position requires a minimum of ten hours a week and possibly a vehicle.
Multimedia Designer
The MRWC has one position available for an intern trained in graphic and web design. Multimedia design includes designing and updating our web page, creating pamphlets, and brochures, and handling various types of media such as CDs, films, and image files. Preference will be given to students with web design and programming experience. Please be prepared to present your previous work and/or your portfolio. Position requires a minimum of ten hours a week. No vehicle is required.
Grant Writer
The MRWC has one position available for an intern with excellent writing skills. This position will entail researching private, state, and federal agencies for potential funding opportunities, determining and outlining the grant requirement for the project manager, and then writing the grant to procure the project. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors who are science, engineering, and English majors. Please be prepared to present writing samples. Position requires a minimum of ten hours a week. No vehicle is required.
