Paddling Trips-August

August 2 (Saturday) - PARKER RIVER WILDLIFE REFUGE/PLUM ISLAND RIVER, PLUM ISLAND, MA (EASY)
A trip to the Atlantic Coastal Watershed offers a different paddling experience on the tidal salt marsh Plum River that expands into Plum Island Sound. We’ll pass through the Parker River Wildlife Refuge and enjoy a variety of birds. Beaches on Plum Island are closed at this time of year for nesting piping plovers. Please take a moment and enjoy the visitors center, located at the parking lot, after our trip. Meet 9:30am on Plum Island at the Parker River Refuge parking lot #1. There will be a $5.00/car admittance fee unless you have a pass. Call if you need additional directions.

August 3 (Sunday) - NASHUA RIVER, Lancaster, MA  (EASY)
A continuation of our May 24th trip without the fast water. We’ll paddle from Lancaster Center through the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge. Meet at 9:30am in Lancaster. From Rte 495, take exit 27, Rte 117W toward Bolton. Through Bolton 5.0 miles. Left onto Main Street/MA70 1.2 miles. Left on to dirt Rdt immediately after the bridge in Lancaster Center. August 16 (Saturday) - LAKE  POTANIPO, Brookline, NH  (MOONLIGHT PADDLE)
Enjoy a peaceful evening paddling under a moonlit sky. All boats must have a flashlight or equivalent. Trip is dependent on a clear sky. If weather is questionable call before 6:30.
Meet at 7:30 in Brookline. From Nashua take exit 6 (Rte 130) west. In Brookline center leave Rte 130 in front of Daniels Academy (large yellow building on left) staying straight onto Meetinghouse Hill Rd. At yellow blinking light continue straight over Rte 13 onto Mason Rd. Entrance to Potanipo is second right, just before going over bridge. August 17 (Sunday) - PARKER RIVER WILDLIFE  (RAINDATE) (See Aug. 2)

August 23 (Saturday) - MERRIMACK  RIVER,  North Concord, NH   (EASY)
Although the NH state capital is right around the bend,  this section seems to be remote and enjoyed  by  many of the locals. Meet at 9:30am in North Concord, NH. Rte 93 north to exit 15 west, at second set of lights go right onto Main Street/Rte 3, pass New Hampshire State Prison, at fork bear right onto Sewalls Falls Rd, (cemetery in center), take right onto Second St., continue to end into the Sewalls Falls Multi-Use Recreation Area,  Put-in is in parking lot on right labeled “cartop boat access”.
