PFOA Contamination in Merrimack, NH

According to a report by NHPR, low levels of perfluorooctanioc acid (PFOA) have been detected in drinking water in Merrimack, NH. It was detected during a test at the Merrimack Saint-Gobain facility. PFOA has also been detected near other Saint-Gobain facilities in North Bennington, VT and Hoosick, NY. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified PFOA as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” and although the levels remain below EPA provisional standards, this contamination is still unacceptable.
